The South West Coast Path is surely the greatest coastal walk for ramblers in the UK, starting at Minehead on the edge of the Exmoor National Park and finishing on the shores of Poole Harbour in Dorset. Walking The South West Coast Path is a wonderful way to enjoy the coastal scenery, wildlife and heritage.
As keen ramblers the resident owners of Buckingham Lodge enjoy walking part of The South West Coast Path that makes its way around Dartmouth, Paignton, Torquay and further afield to Shaldon and Teignmouth aptly named the Jurassic Coast because it depicts a geological "walk through time". We can provide ramblers with knowledge of the best rambles around the coast and also alternative walks around Torquay and beyond to Dartmoor.
If you come for a walking holiday in South Devon you could take a walk from the beautiful town of Kingswear, walking up the River Dart, passed Agatha Christie's house at Galmpton and finishing in the local pub in the village. This is just one example of a lovely walk to undertake during your rambling holiday.
Alternatively, take a walk on Dartmoor, an area which contains the largest wild open space in the South of England. Ramble and take in the sights of the Ten Tors, made famous for the Ten Tors Challenge which takes place every May.
