We have recently updated our website to include some new photos of room 6 which we have been decorating, and fitted out with new carpet. This room is so versatile. It can accommodate couples in a superkingsize bed or convert the room to twin beds depending on requirements. The room next door is a double and the two rooms can be used as a suite with its own private door off the corridor. So mums and dads with older children can have some privacy but know their children are just in the next room. Room 6 also has a fridge and small kitchen area with a sink, ideal for families with babies, plenty of room for a travel cot.

Ramblers. The website also has two additional pages, one dedicated to ramblers and one to golfers. We can offer tailor-made holidays for ramblers, providing pack lunches, evening meals, invaluable information about local walks along the South Devon Coastal path or around about Torquay. For group bookings we can provide transport to and from the start and pickup point, pack lunches and evening meals. Some of our bedrooms also have the luxury of a bath to soothe aching muscles.

Playing Golf in Devon. There are a variety of golf courses in and around Torquay and our new page gives you a wealth of information when deciding your next golfing break. Having played on many of the local golf courses, Steve the Proprietor of Buckingham Lodge is a keen golfer and can provide you with relevant information relating to your individual golfing skills and handicap. For group bookings we can arrange transport to and fromthe golfcourse, tee times, and evening meals.

Such a lovely sunny today today so decided to go off exploring - I had previously picked up a leaflet for the Darts Farm Shop www.dartsfarm.co.uk which is near Exmouth. So armed with my sat nav I set off on a glorious trip along the coast to Shaldon, Teignmouth and up the river estuary to Exmouth. If you like quality shopping this is the place to go when you are next in this area, they stock a wide range of local Westcountry food and drink and beautifully crafted luxury gift, home and lifestyle products. Being a bit of a foodie I came away with some lovely granary and walnut bread, olives in herbs and garlic, local goats cheese, and their own grown pork and herb sausages!

What a difference a sunny day makes. There was definately more people out and about and bookings have picked up after a long cold winter. However we still have rooms available for Easter, check out the special deals on our website. And dont forget anyone booking a two night stay between January and May will receive a bottle of wine in their room, unfortunately this doesnt apply to the Easter period but still a good deal!

Welcome to our new guest house blog! Here you will be able to read in more detail about our friendly, family run guest house, and information on events happening in and around the Torquay, Paignton and Brixham area of Torbay.

Well, Autumn is well and truly here, the clocks have gone back and the horse chestnut trees at the top of our drive are nearly naked!

Its time for guest house owners to do all the jobs that have been put aside during the summer season, repair, renew and refresh areas of the guest accommodation that needs attention.

With this in mind we decided to renew our breakfast/dining room floor, it had a green swirly, patterned carpet that was to say a little dated. Stripping it back we discovered a concrete floor underneath which was very uneven with a main gas pipe running right across it, something we didnt want to remove! After levelling the floor, the professional floor guys have laid a beautiful Karndean Auckland Oak vinyl completely changing the appearance of the room. Of course now thats done I now need to paint skirting boards, change the curtains and maybe even the tablecloths, pictures etc. We hope you like it!

The weather has been so mild here in Torquay this October, 19 degrees today which is very unusual even for our mild microclimate down here. Nice bonus for anyone on half term holiday.

Not sure its going to last though....
