Access Statement for the Buckingham Lodge Guest House

The comfort and safety of all our guests is of paramount importance and with this in mind we hope the following information will be useful when considering your stay with us.

Introduction

The Buckingham Lodge is a 9 bedroom guest house offering 4 doubles, 1 single, 3 twin and 1 family room (sleeps 3). Two of the rooms are on the ground floor. The property also has a spacious dining room and a guest lounge/bar area. Our policy of no-smoking applies throughout the building.

Pre Arrival

Assistance prior to arrival is available in the form of collection from Torquay railway station or coach station. It is approx 8 minute walk from the train station to the property, however the road is on an incline.

It is a 10 minute walk to the town centre but quite hilly in places. Gentle incline down to the sea front and harbour. A bus service is available on the road outside the property with regular bus service from the sea front to most tourist attractions.

Torquay Taxis have disabled friendly taxis and minibuses available. Direct line is 01803 213213

Arrival

The main entrance to the property is from Falkland Road, down a sloping driveway, parking available for 5 cars. Additional free parking is available on Falkland Road opposite the property. The car park has sensor lighting at night. The entrance has double doors with two steps into the Reception area. The first step is 18cm high from the driveway and the second step is 19cm into the property.

Access is also available from the rear of the property with steps leading to Bath Lane.

Assistance with luggage is available.

A twin room and family room is situated on the ground floor. The twin room door width is 28cm wide, the door width for the family room is 31.5cm wide.

There is also a ground floor W.C. with a door width of 34cm

Public Areas

The Bar/guest lounge and dining room are situated on the ground floor, and both have double doors and fixed carpeted flooring. A fridge is available for guests who need this facility for medication.

In the dining room menus are available in large print. Special dietary considerations can be catered for with prior notification.

A flight of stairs (14 steps) leads onto a small landing with another step leading into an inner hallway for entrance to two of the bedrooms. A further four steps leads onto the top landing for entrance to the 5 remaining bedrooms.

Rooms

All rooms have access via a fire door with conventional key. All are carpeted and have non slip surfaces in the bathrooms. Showers are temperature controlled and have adjustable shower heads. Plug points are at a height of approximately 32 cms. Televisions are operated by remote control. An audible fire alarm is situated in each room, if specific emergency arrangements are required please inform the proprietors. Suitable signage is visible throughout the property.
